Florian completed his medical training at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich. For his doctoral thesis, he studied the influence of the CRL7-E3 Ligase and the Ubiquitin-Proteasome-System in cardiac disease at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Technical University of Munich. After graduation he began his surgical training at the Department of Surgery, Klinikum rechts der Isar, School of Medicine, Technical University of Munich under the direction of Prof. Dr. H. Friess in 2015. Here, he joined the pancreas research group and studied the perioperative course of patients with pancreatic cancer. In 2019 he joined the laboratory of Dr. David Tuveson to investigate the role of mitophagy in pancreatic cancer and develop novel therapeutic approaches.
